2007 Chevrolet Colorado Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the timing chain tensioner on 2007 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: To replace the Timing Chain Tensioner, it is necessary first to collect the tools, such as the Timing Chain Tensioner (J 44221). Start by removing the camshaft cover and the engine front cover. Rotate the Crankshaft clockwise until the #1 Piston reaches top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke, ensuring the word delphi on the exhaust camshaft position actuator is parallel with the Cylinder Head to cam cover mating surface. Attach the camshaft holding tool at the back of the camshafts (J 44221). Using the timing marks as reference, we will make the Timing Chain links at adjacent to exhaust camshaft position actuator on sprocket, intake camshaft sprocket and Crankshaft sprocket. Relieve the tension off the Timing Chain by rotating the tensioner shoe inwards and insert a tee into the tensioner to lock the shoe in position. Loosen the Timing Chain Tensioner bolts and take out the Timing Chain Tensioner from the engine. For an installation, place the Timing Chain Tensioner to the engine and bolt the Timing Chain Tensioner bolts into place by doing so in 25 (N.m 18.lb ft.). Unplug the Timing Chain Tensioner to release tension on the Timing Chain. To remove the camshaft holding tool (J 44221), withdraw this from the camshafts and make sure that each of the timing chains that is darkened, every 7th link to Timing Chain, helps in aligning the timing marks. Justify the linked stages on the timeframe string with the timing ticks on the exhaust camshaft position actuator sprocket, the consumption camshaft sprocket, and the Crankshaft sprocket. Finally, take the engine front cover and install the camshaft cover.
