Q: How to replace the camshaft on 2007 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: To replace the Camshaft first remove the engine assembly, crankshaft balancer, oil level indicator tube, left and right exhaust manifolds, water pump, intake manifold, engine valley cover, coolant air bleed pipe, left and right valve Rocker Arm covers, valve rocker arms, push rods, left and right cylinder heads, valve lifters, oil pan-to-front cover bolts, front cover bolts, take off the front cover and gasket and discard the old gasket. Rotate the engine to align timing marks (1, 2) then remove Camshaft sprocket bolts, Timing Chain from Camshaft sprocket and Camshaft itself. For installation position the new Camshaft and align the Camshaft sprocket alignment mark at 6 (1) o'clock, place the Camshaft sprocket and tightening of the Camshaft sprocket bolts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Apply a 5 mm (0.2 in) bead of sealant 20 mm (0.8 in) long to the Oil Pan to engine block junction and then install a front cover with a new gasket and snug front cover and Oil Pan-to-front cover bolts. Use the j-41476 front and rear cover alignment tool to align the tapered legs to the machined alignment surfaces in the front cover then snug the crankshaft balancer bolt without over torquing. Tighten Oil Pan-to-front cover bolts and engine front cover bolts to 25n.m (18 lb. Ft.), remove j 41476, and install new crankshaft front oil seal. Finally, reinstall the valve lifters, right and left cylinder heads, valve rocker arms, push rods, right and left valve Rocker Arm covers, coolant air bleed pipe, intake manifold, water pump, left and right exhaust manifolds, oil level indicator tube, crankshaft balance, and the engine assembly.
