Q: How to replace the intake manifold (L92 - Second Design) on 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
A: In order to change the Intake Manifold (L92 - Second Design), it is necessary to remove the air cleaner outlet duct, generator and the engine harness retainer nut, remove the engine harness retainer from the stud and locator pin. Remove the following engine harness electrical connectors from the evap canister purge solenoid, manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor, ignition coil harness, left side fuel injectors, throttle actuator, right side fuel injectors, and engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor. Collected and secured engine harness branches to the cowl panel, reposition the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose clamp, and remove the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose from the booster fitting. Unplug the evap canister purge tube and fuel feed line, afterwards, pull off the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the Intake Manifold fitting. Loosen Intake Manifold bolts (512) and remove Intake Manifold (500) with covering covering of the cylinder passages to avoid entry of debris into the passages. Remove the Intake Manifold gaskets (514), as well as positioning the hose clamp for brake booster, be lifting off hose vacuum from the Intake Manifold nipple and detach the upper Intake Manifold cover and MAP Sensor if replacing the Intake Manifold. Cut the evap tube at its connection point, and remove the Throttle Body and Fuel Rail from its place, dispose of the Throttle Body Gasket and the Fuel Injector lower o-ring seals. For installation, if the Intake Manifold was replaced, properly install the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose nipple to the new Intake Manifold, apply new Fuel Injector lower o-ring seals, and lubricate them using clean engine oil, before installing the Fuel Rail and screws with 10 n.m (89 lb in). Change a new Throttle Body Gasket, throttle body and fasten using bolts and nuts to the same torque specification. Replace evap tube and purge solenoid, and reconnect evap tube quick connect fitting, and lubricate MAP Sensor seal then install MAP Sensor and retainer. Connect the vacuum brake booster, tighten the nut, reinstall the upper Intake Manifold cover (514) and put back the Intake Manifold (500) after installing new Intake Manifold gaskets. Tighten the Intake Manifold bolts (512) at first to 5 n.m (44 lb in), then to 10 n.m (89 lb in) in the order specified. Reconnect the pcv hose, fuel feed line, and evap canister purge tube and then secure the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose and install the generator. For the final step, reconnect the engine harness electrical connectors and the retainer and tighten the nut to 5 n.m (44 lb in), then reinstall the duct for the air cleaner outlet.
