2007 GMC Acadia Oxygen Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) for Bank 2 Sensor 2 on 2007 GMC Acadia?
A: Changing the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) for bank 2 sensor 2 requires maintenance personnel to avoid disconnecting the pigtail from either the ho2s or Oxygen Sensor (O2S) because it can harm sensor operation. Stay cautious with the Oxygen Sensor by preventing drops from happening and maintain the in-line electrical connector and louvered end clean from contaminants along with avoiding any cleaning solvents. The Oxygen Sensor needs replacement rather than repair when the pigtail wiring or connector or terminal shows any damage because such modifications affect air reference pathways and reduce sensor quality. Rarely use contact cleaner with sensor or vehicle harness connectors because applying it harms sensor pigtail wires and harness wires which can create performance issues when sharp bends form in lead wires. Keep the Oxygen Sensor ground wire in place whenever possible because it functions as the primary sensor grounding point and maintain the peripheral seal on the vehicle harness connector to stop water damage. The packard crimp and splice seals terminal repair kit serves as an alternative for engine harness repairs instead of soldering processes. Start the uninstallation process by eliminating the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer then unplug the ho2s electrical connector from the engine wiring harness electrical connector. First increase the vehicle height while providing support and remove the ho2s unit from the Exhaust Pipe. During installation you must use the anti-seize compound gm p/n 12377953 on the old sensor threads when reusing it since new sensors arrive with pre-applied coating. Install the ho2s to the Exhaust Pipe then use torque to a maximum of 42 n.m (31 lb ft). The installation process requires reconnecting the ho2s electrical connector between the engine wiring harness electrical connector before returning the cpa retainer and lowering the vehicle.
