How to replace the steering shaft in a standard column on 2007 GMC Canyon?

A standard column requires sir system disablement before starting the Steering Column shaft replacement process. First remove the Steering Wheel before removing the Ignition Switch and lock housing assembly. Start by disconnecting the vehicle's Steering Column and continue with the linear shift assembly removal if required. After removing the lower shaft bearing assembly continue by removing the Steering Shaft assembly from its positions within the Steering Column support assembly and the Steering Column jacket assembly. Place the Steering Shaft assembly into the Steering Column support assembly before installing the lower shaft bearing assembly. Reinstall the linear shift assembly as a first step before you reinstall the Steering Column in the vehicle. Begin by installing the Ignition Switch and lock housing assembly then add the Steering Wheel onto the Steering Column before enabling sir system operation.
