Preparations start with engine oil lubrication applied to the new oil seal edge and front cover seal bore. The second step involves applying the crankshaft front oil seal onto the J 41478 Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Installer (J 41478). Install the J 41478 threaded rod alongside its nut, washer, guide, and oil seal into the crankshaft where you can use the J 41478 to position the oil seal into the cover bore. Apply a wrench to the installer bolt hex while rotating the installer nut clockwise through the use of another wrench until the cover bore seats the seal entirely. After using the J 41478 Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Installer remove it to check that the oil seal has an even and complete installation in the front cover bore. Finally, reinstall the crankshaft balancer.
