2007 GMC Sierra 1500 Rocker Shaft Spring Kit Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on 2007 GMC Sierra 1500?
A: First take off needed valve rocker arms and spark plugs to replace the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring. Seal the Spark Plug opening by inserting j 22794 while linking the shop air hose then use compressed air to grip the valve parts. Fasten the bolt and Rocker Arm back while using a flat washer to fix the valve spring replacement valve. Apply care during work on high-tension compressed valve springs. Hold the valve spring in place with the j 5892-d (Valve Spring Compressor) by positioning its slot under the washer at the Rocker Arm bolt before steadily tightening the tool to expose the valve keys. For better valve spring engagement push the j 38606 tool into place when using it. Disconnect the valve key tools while lowering the valve spring tension before taking out the j 5892-d or j 38606. Afterwards remove the valve spring capacitor and then valve spring before taking out the Valve Stem Oil Seal. Insert the valve into its correct guide position and put the selected Valve Stem Oil Seal into place. Place the j 42073 Valve Stem Oil Seal installer over the seal and use it to clamp the seal onto the valve guide with a 1-2 mm space between them. Put in the valve spring and valve spring cap before using the j 5892-d or j 38606 tool to compress the valve spring once more as required. Push the valve stem keys into place then put on the needed o-ring and stem valve keys when painting on grease. Pull the valve spring tester gently while making sure valve keys settle into position before taking off j 5892-d or j 38606. To complete the procedure put back the j 22794, set in spark plugs and put back the valve rocker arms.
