  A: Begin by buying and using the fan clutch remover and installer tool designated j 41240. First disconnect the air cleaner outlet and the Drive Belt before draining the cooling system. Detach the outlet hose clamps from both surge tank and Water Pump then unsecure the hose from each unit. Change the Water Pump inlet hose clamps before uninstalling the inlet tube. Apply the fan clutch remover and installer part j 41240 on the Water Pump Pulley and remove all pulley bolts before using it again to detach the Water Pump bolts. Set aside the Water Pump unit. Clean the Water Pump thoroughly and check its condition before replacing the worn gaskets. Apply threaded sealant gm p/n 12346004 with equivalent compound to Water Pump bolt threads before installing new Water Pump gaskets and the Water Pump. With the specified tool you can install the Water Pump Pulley bolts to 25 n.m when holding the pump. Twist the Water Pump bolts to 45 n.m using the fan clutch remover and installer (J 41240). Fit the Water Pump hose clamp tangs to point forward towards the Water Pump, keeping the upper tang at Water Pump inlet hose outside diameter level. Place the Water Pump inlet hose and place its clamps before connecting the radiator outlet hose to both components. Reposition radiator outlet hose clamps before putting on the Drive Belt and air cleaner outlet duct. Check the cooling components and put fluid into the system before searching for any fluid drops.
