- Q: How to replace the engine coolant fan motor (LY7) on 2008 Buick LaCrosse?A: Start by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable to establish a safe working environment along with maintaining a distance from all underhood electric fans. Start by taking the Fan Shroud assembly off the vehicle while simultaneously gripping the Fan Blade to stop it from turning. The ge-47827 (GE-47827) socket allows turning the Fan Motor drive plate against the arrow direction on the Fan Blade to free it from its position. Then discard the Fan Blade moving forward by taping all entry points to the cooling Fan Motor to avoid debris entry. Remove the Fan Motor from its housing by unraveling the rivets through carefully drilled holes created by the 6.35 mm (0.25 in) drill. When the process finishes discard the motor components while using air to eliminate residual debris. Position the new engine cooling Fan Motor onto the Fan Shroud after inserting bolts from the front side before applying cooling Fan Motor nuts and locking them at 6 n.m (53 lb in). The installation of the new Fan Blade hub requires soaking it in hot tap water above 49°c (120°F) for no less than one minute before application so it stays above 40°c (104°F) during installation. Insert the new engine cooling Fan Blade onto the Fan Motor drive plate right after heating. Then grip the Fan Blade while using ge-47827 (GE-47827) to rotate the Fan Motor drive plate in the same direction indicated by the arrow until complete engagement.
