    Q:
How to replace the engine coolant fan motor on Chevrolet Impala? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step for replacing the engine coolant Fan Motor requires disconnecting the negative Battery Cable to prevent electrical sparks and maintaining safe distance from underhood electric fans with hands and tools. The process starts with removing the Fan Shroud assembly of the vehicle while maintaining Fan Blade stationary to stop rotational movement. The ge-47827 (GE-47827) socket should be used to rotate the Fan Motor drive plate against the Fan Blade arrow direction until it separates from the blade. The first step is to dispose of the Fan Blade while using tape to protect all openings leading to the cooling Fan Motor. Drill the rivet heads from the Fan Motor with a 6.35 mm (0.25 in) drill bit before tapping out the rivets and taking the Fan Motor off the shroud while blowing away any remnants of debris. Install the new engine cooling Fan Motor to the Fan Shroud by inserting bolts first from the front side then tightening the cooling Fan Motor nuts to 6 n.m (53 lb in). Infuse the new Fan Blade hub in hot running water set at 49°c (120°F) for sixty seconds before instantly mounting it onto the Fan Motor drive plate. The ge-47827 (GE-47827) tool should be used to guide the Fan Motor drive plate turning in alignment with the Fan Blade arrow marks until full engagement and then rotate the blade to check its proper movement followed by Fan Shroud assembly reinstallation to the vehicle.
