  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2008 Buick LaCrosse?
    A: To replace the Oil Pan, first remove the tires and wheels, next remove the oil level indicator and engine splash shields. Drain the engine oil without removing the brake calapers, but transferring and bracing them instead. Then, by unhinging it, remove the Brake Calipers, retaining bolts for struts and the steering rack from frame. Remove the tie rods away from the steering knuckle, then remove the power steering cooler lines, transmission cooler lines and battery cable wiring harness along with the other fittings from their attachment to the frame. Unplug the speed sensor electrical connectors and remove the speed sensor wire harness. Mount the engine support fixture and remove the nut of the right engine mounts, the bolts for the transmission mounts, and the engine mount struts. Lower the frame after disconnecting all the lines and harnesses and removing the frame mounting bolts. Pull off the oil level sensor electrical connector, remove the Oil Pan bolts, then remove the Oil Pan from the engine block before you remove that from the vehicle. Take apart the Oil Pan, restore and install new Oil Pan, reattach the oil level sensor electrical joint and elevate the frame. Mount the transmission mount bolts, and the engine mount struts in addition to the right end engine mount nuts. Now, remove the engine support fixture; next, electric connectors speed sensor installed battery cable wiring harness installing it onto the speed sensor electrical connectors. Install the transmission cooler lines along with the power steering lines before installing the steering rack and tie rods. Fasten the retaining bolts for the struts, install the Brake Calipers and engine splash shields. Finally, put back the oil level indicator, tires, and wheels as well as fill the engine with oil.
