  • Q: How to replace the Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing (LY7) on 2008 Buick LaCrosse?
    A: To change engine coolant Thermostat housing (ly7) remove the heater hoses from the Heater Core first. Then, take off the Thermostat as well as the Thermostat housing bolts. Remove the Thermostat housing carefully with heater pipes, hoses, and bolts. Remove the back 2-bolts connecting the power generator hydraulic pump to the oil pan on the top of the engine block. Mount the heater pipes and hoses to the Thermostat housing and then attach a new gasket. Pre-installing Thermostat housing bolts to maintain the gasket, then installing the Thermostat housing into the heater pipes, hoses, gasket and bolts. Apply tightening to the Thermostat housing bolts to 20.0 n.m(15lb ft). Lastly install the Thermostat back and reconnect heater hoses back to the Heater Core.
