How to replace the front door striker on 2008 Cadillac DTS?

Before starting to replace the front door striker it is important to notice where it is positioned and count the number of spacers present before taking out the door striker bolts. The next step consists of removing the striker element along with its spacer. Proper alignment of the striker during installation protects against both unsafe door functions and safety hazards because hitting the striker with a hammer or applying force should always be avoided. Position the spacer beside the striker at the lock pillar with the narrow striker part facing external and secure the striker fasteners. Following door striker alignment secure the two fasteners at 27 N.m torque setting (20 lb ft).
