- Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve in an A/C system on 2008 Cadillac SRX?A: Begin the replacement process of the thermal expansion valve (TXV) by collecting all refrigerant from the a/c system. The first step entails removing the instrument panel (I/P) carrier. Begin by removing the insulation layer from the txv and proceed with removing the hvac line clamp screw and clamp. The process of replacing the thermal expansion valve (TXV) starts by removing the txv to Evaporator bolts and the txv line bracket and finishing with detachment of the txv from the Evaporator core by pulling straight out from the a/c lines. Disposing of all o-rings becomes essential after the txv has been taken off. Start by adding new o-rings after which you should connect the a/c lines to the txv before mounting the txv onto the Evaporator core. Attach the txv line bracket to its place before tightening the txv to Evaporator bolts to 3.5 n.m (31 lb in). Restore the hvac line clamp before tightening its screw to 1 n.m torque (9 lb in force). Reinstall the instrument panel carrier while placing the insulation over all lines and txv. The halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) will conduct a leak detection test on the fittings of the component after evacuating the a/c system.
