• Q: How to replace the upper intake manifold on 2008 Cadillac SRX?

  A: To remove the upper Intake Manifold, turn the ignition off and proceed to remove the fuel injector sight shield. Next, remove the air inlet duct and Brake Booster Vacuum Hose then bag the purge solenoid valve and purge line with the purge solenoid valve connector off. Unplug the two electrical connectors to the throttle body. Remove the wiring harness retainer. Next, take off the upper Intake Manifold brace stud, bolt, and brace and then take off the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the right bank camshaft cover, the barometric pressure sensor electrical connector, and the Intake Manifold runner control solenoid electrical connector. Unbolt the injector harness bracket and the left bank ignition coil wiring harness from the bracket and then remove the upper Intake Manifold bolts whilst giving some deflection of the cowl panel that might be required to eliminate the right rear bolt. First, you need to remove the upper Intake Manifold with the throttle body, as well as disassemble the Intake Manifold, clean and inspect it, if replacing. For installation, you'll need to put the Intake Manifold together if needed, install a new upper Intake Manifold gasket, and then the upper Intake Manifold. They are tightened beginning from the center( long bolts) to the outer rim at 23 n.m ( 17 lb ft). Follow the wire harness from the harness connector to locate and follow the Intake Manifold runner control solenoid electrical connector, and pcv hose and mate them to the right bank camshaft cover. Install the upper Intake Manifold brace, stud & bolt, the brace bolt should be tightened to 65 n.m (48 lb ft) and brace stud 10 n.m (89 lb in). Make sure that the wiring harness connector is connected properly, then connect the electrical connector to the throttle body, connect the wiring harness retainer, connect the purge line to the purge solenoid valve, and the purge solenoid valve electrical connector. Lastly connect the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose to the Intake Manifold, air inlet duct, reinstall the fuel injector sight shield.
