• Q: How to replace the intake manifold on 2007 Cadillac SRX?

  A: Intake Manifold replacement starts with cross car brace and Fuel Injector sight shield removal followed by positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) dirty air tube extraction from the camshaft cover then pcv fresh air tube removal. Start by uninstalling the sight shield bracket nuts followed by removal of the sight shield bracket. The process of replacing the Intake Manifold requires separating the left and right Fuel Injector electrical connectors from the fuel injectors and detaching the evaporative emission (EVAP) purge valve electrical connector and line. Position the evap line aside after its removal from the rear retaining feature of the right head. The technician should use ch 48027 to reduce fuel system pressure followed by removing the fuel line from its Fuel Rail position at the rear retainer of the right head. Please remove the fasteners which hold the Fuel Rail against the Intake Manifold then lift the Fuel Rail together with all attached injectors away from the Intake Manifold position. Proceed by first loosening the plenum duct clamp which sits at the Intake Manifold front and select the Cylinder Head bolts that attach to the Intake Manifold. You can remove the Intake Manifold by carefully pulling it upward from its rear position. Examine the Intake Manifold before proceeding with part installation. Apply a light amount of lubricant to the rubber plenum ducts and install the new gaskets before positioning the Intake Manifold. Position the Intake Manifold while ensuring the front fits tightly to the plenum duct and then let the rear section settle on the cylinder heads. Attach the Intake Manifold to the cylinder heads with ten bolts but start with loose torque then perform a sequential bolt tightening until they reach 10 n.m (89 lb in). Check that the plenum duct covers the complete front side of the Intake Manifold before tightening the plenum duct clamp to 2.25 n.m (20 lb in). Light mineral oil or clean engine oil should lubricate each Intake Manifold Fuel Injector bore gently; avoid forceful insertion of the injectors. Press the complete Fuel Rail and injector system into the Intake Manifold simultaneously before tightening the Fuel Rail bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Attach the fuel line to its retainer position at the rear of the right head before linking it to the Fuel Rail assembly. After installing the evap purge valve line to the rear-right head retainer you must also mount both the evap purge valve line and its electrical connector. Screw the sight shield bracket onto position before securing the bracket nuts at 10 n.m (89 lb in). Secure the pcv fresh air tube and pcv dirty air tube while also installing the Fuel Injector sight shield and cross car brace.
