• Q: How to replace the engine front timing cover on 2008 Cadillac SRX?

  A: In order to replace the engine front cover collect the necessary tools. En 46109 engine front cover installation guide pins (EN 46109) and ge 47716 -vac n fill coolant refill tool (GE 47716). Start with removing the engine cover, then the upper and lower intake manifolds, the camshaft covers, then the camshaft. Drain off the engine coolant using the coolant refill tool, remove the purge vent hose from the water outlet and take out the water outlet with Radiator Hose. Then take out the accessory drive belts, the A/C Compressor and power steering belt tensioner, and the generator bracket with generator and belt tensioner. Do not separate the power steering pipes or drain off the fluid. Reposition the power steering liquid magnet and determine the Power Steering Pump pulley, and the upper front connection of the Power Steering Pump and loosen the remaining coercions. Remove the crankshaft balancer and the oil control valves, and then the engine front cover with the Water Pump. Ensure that the sealing surfaces are clean and do not allow anything to drop into the oil pan. Put together the front cover of the engine if needed and, using the installation guide pins, install it. Replace the oil control valves, crankshaft balancer, the Power Steering Pump and pulley. Reinstall the power steering fluid reservoir, generator bracket with the generator and belt tensioner, a/c compressor and power steering belt tensioner, and the accessory drive belts. Lastly, replace the water outlet, reconnect the purge vent hose, refill the cooling system, and replace the camshaft covers, upper and lower intake manifolds, and the engine cover. This step will be completed by filling the cooling system again, and changing the engine oil.
