• Q: How to replace the engine front timing cover on 2009 Cadillac SRX?

  A: Engine front cover replacement requires the removal of three components: engine cover, upper Intake Manifold joined to lower Intake Manifold, and camshaft covers. First drain the engine coolant before disconnecting the purge vent hose from the water outlet followed by removing the water outlet with the Radiator Hose. Detach the accessory drive belts then remove the A/C Compressor and power steering belt tensioner followed by the generator bracket with its generator along with tensioner while maintaining power steering pipes intact and preserving fluid inside the system. The power steering fluid reservoir needs repositioning for better access before removing the power steering pulley and loosening all other bolts. The technicians should extract the crankshaft balancer alongside the camshaft position sensors and the camshaft position actuator solenoid valves from the front cover. Uninstall the engine front cover with Water Pump present then break it down for parts while using non-harmful scraper tools to clean all gasket-contacting surfaces. A compressed air mechanism should blow away all engine coolant located in the cooling passages and oil pan scraper. Reassemble the engine front cover according to specifications before installing it with the en 46109. Replace the camshaft position actuator solenoid valves and camshaft position sensors before installing the crankshaft balancer and power steering pump and power steering pump pulley. Place the power steering fluid reservoir and generator bracket together with generator and belt tensioner following installation of A/C Compressor and power steering belt tensioner then install accessory drive belts. Now install the water outlet before reconnecting the purge vent hose while filling the cooling system completely and reinstalling the camshaft covers and the combined upper and lower intake manifolds with the engine cover.
