- Q: How to replace the inlet radiator hose on 2008 Cadillac XLR?A: The replacement of the Radiator inlet hose requires a draining of the cooling system according to cooling system draining and filling (Static Fill) procedure (GE 47716) method. You must remove the air cleaner assembly. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185), using its capabilities to free tension from the clamp, removes the clamp from the Radiator at the Radiator inlet hose. Next, disconnect the hose from the Radiator. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) will help you detach engine-side hose connection when you loosen the clamp tension. Remove the Radiator inlet hose. The installation must align reference marks between hoses and Radiator to avoid damaging the Radiator fitting. Clean coolant should be applied at the inside diameters of the new hose before installing it into position. Engage tension on the Radiator inlet hose clamp at the engine through the use of hose clamp pliers (J 38185). You should use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to apply tension on Radiator clamps while you finally connect the hose to the Radiator. To complete the service replace the air cleaner assembly and complete the cooling system fill through procedures in cooling system draining and filling (Static Fill) (GE 47716).
