- Q: How to replace the inlet radiator hose on 2009 Cadillac XLR?A: The replacement of the Radiator inlet hose begins by following instructions from cooling system draining and filling (Static Fill) (GE 47716). The air cleaner assembly requires removal as the next step. You should use j 38185 hose clamp pliers to remove tension from the Radiator inlet hose clamp which is attached to both Radiator and hose before disconnecting them. The engine hose installation requires similar steps where you should loosen the clamp tension and break the hose from its connection point. Remove the Radiator inlet hose. Alignment of reference marks between hoses and Radiator is necessary for installation since improper alignment will cause Radiator fitting stress that might result in cracking or breaking. Clean coolants should be used to lubricate every inside diameter of the new hose that will be installed. We will connect the Radiator inlet hose to the engine while using j 38185 to secure the clamp with proper tension. After attaching the hose to the Radiator use j 38185 to apply tension on the clamp installed at the Radiator. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly and proceed with filling the cooling system through the cooling system draining and filling (Static Fill) (GE 47716) methodology.
