2008 Chevrolet Aveo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the power vacuum brake booster on 2008 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: The first step in replacing the power vacuum Brake Booster is disconnecting the electrical wire from the reservoir. When working on manual transaxle vehicles disconnect the Clutch Hose connection clip to the master cylinder at the same time plug the hose and master cylinder to avoid brake fluid leaking. Adjust the master cylinder toward the engine compartment without breaking lines then remove attachment nuts while replacing the housing seal. Take off the vacuum hose clip from the booster and unplug the brake lamp switch before removing the brake pedal spring. Unsnap the Pushrod and clip from the pedal bracket assembly. After removing the booster support bracket-dash panel nuts, take out the booster and bracket from the dash panel. Beforehand, disconnect the booster bracket nuts to remove the booster. After taking out the rubber boot and retainer, grab also the Pushrod and adjustment sleeve. Check the Pushrod and adjustment sleeve for damage and proper function before you put on the hex nut and adjustment sleeve to the booster. Tighten the booster Pushrod hex nut and adjustment sleeve to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Fit the Pushrod into the adjustment sleeve and attach the retainer while checking if the measurement reads 278.5 mm (10 in). Set the rubber boot in place above the booster. Mount the brackets next and fasten the booster-support bracket nuts to 12 n.m. Attach the booster unit to the dash panel while tightening its mounting hardware to 24 n.m (18 lb ft). Fit the booster housing seal to new booster then connect the master cylinder and tighten its nuts to 18 lb ft (24 N.m). Install the new vacuum hose through the booster while aligning its dohc engine connector and add new hose clamps to the pipe. Attach the Pushrod pin to the brake pedal bracket then connect the clip and spring alongside the brake lamp switch.
