2008 Chevrolet Aveo Brake Pad Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the front disc brake pads on 2008 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: First, raise and support the vehicle appropriately before changing the front disc brake pads. Mark the relative positions of the wheel and hub so as to keep the wheel balanced and removed the front wheel. You don't have to take the caliper off in order to service the brake shoes. Then, take out the lower bolt that secures the caliper assembly retaining frame and pull the caliper Piston housing up. Pry off the brake pads, being careful not to inhale the brake dust. Take measurements of the minimum lining before you fit the new brake pads into the caliper then force the Piston in while not causing damage on the Piston seal. Pull down the caliper Piston housing and attach it to the retaining frame by using the lower bolt and tighten the retaining frame to caliper housing bolts at 27 n.m (20 lb ft). Finally, bring the marks made before the removal of the wheel and install the front wheels before lowering the car.
