2008 Chevrolet Aveo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2008 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: The replacement process for Fuel Rail assembly starts with releasing fuel system pressure then disconnecting the car battery negative terminal. Work on the following steps for the Fuel Rail assembly replacement by first removing engine cover bolts along with the cover which also requires disconnecting electronic throttle control connector and intake Air Temperature Sensor, camshaft position sensor, manifold absolute pressure sensor, and Fuel Injector harness connectors. The operation requires removal of the purge solenoid valve which connects to the intake manifold hose together with the MAP Sensor vacuum hose and upper intake manifold bracket bolts and bracket. The service technician should cut the fuel feed line and detach the throttle body outlet coolant hose. Pay special attention to fuel system components during service especially the Fuel Injector electrical connectors and tips and o-rings so avoid allowing contamination by plugging both Fuel Rail inlet and outlet ports. Never apply compressed air nor place the Fuel Rail assembly in solvent solution because such practices will cause damage to the system. The first step involves removing Fuel Rail mounting bolts before extracting the Fuel Rail along with attached fuel injectors. Remove the retaining clips from the fuel injectors before gently pulling them out of the socket while discarding the o-rings. New o-rings for fuel injectors require engine oil lubrication before installation and should have the same part number as the original injectors. Secure the fuel injectors into the Fuel Rail sockets by facing the terminals outward before fastening them with retainer clips. The Fuel Rail assembly should be installed into the Cylinder Head while the mounting bolts require a torque of 25 n.m (18 lb ft) and the throttle body coolant hose and fuel feed hose should be restored. The technician should reinstall the intake manifold upper bracket, map sensor vacuum hose together with the purge solenoid to intake manifold hose replacement. The Fuel Injector harness connectors should be connected with a rotation of each injector to prevent wire stretch and then installed along with the MAP Sensor connector and Camshaft Position Sensor and intake Air Temperature Sensor and electronic throttle control connector. After installing the engine cover users should restore the negative Battery Cable and perform checks for leaks on both Fuel Rail and injectors.
