2009 Chevrolet Aveo Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel injection fuel rail assembly without variable camshaft phasing on 2009 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: The replacement process of the fuel injection Fuel Rail assembly without variable camshaft phasing requires users to perform two initial steps before beginning. They should both relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative Battery Cable. The first step involves removing the engine cover bolts and cover before disconnecting the electronic throttle control connector and intake Air Temperature Sensor and Camshaft Position Sensor and manifold absolute pressure sensor and Fuel Injector harness connectors. The next steps require removal of the purge solenoid valve to intake manifold hose alongside the MAP Sensor vacuum hose before beginning to disconnect the upper intake manifold bracket bolts and bracket from the assembly. To proceed with replacement disconnect the throttle body outlet coolant hose along with the fuel feed line. All fuel system components require careful handling by plugging the port inlets and outlets of the Fuel Rail and avoiding compressed air and solvent bath applications to the Fuel Rail assembly. Start by removing the Fuel Rail mounting bolts and then retrieve the Fuel Rail assembly with all integrated fuel injectors. The mechanic should pull down and remove the fuel injectors by drawing them out which requires discarding the original o-ring components. Engine oil lubrication of fresh Fuel Injector o-rings should follow before installing them onto the injectors prior to placing injectors into Fuel Rail sockets where terminals should face outward. After alignment of the fuel injectors parallel to the harness connector install the Fuel Rail assembly to its Cylinder Head mounting position. Secure the Fuel Rail mounting bolts at 25 nm (18 lb ft) before reconnecting the throttle body coolant hose and fuel feed hose. Place back the upper intake manifold bracket in addition to the MAP Sensor vacuum hose and purge solenoid to intake manifold hose. Rotate the Fuel Injector harness connectors between each other to prevent wire stretching while proceeding to connect the MAP Sensor and Camshaft Position Sensor then intake Air Temperature Sensor and electronic throttle control connector. After installing the engine cover with bolts you should reconnect the negative Battery Cable while conducting a leak test of both Fuel Rail and fuel injectors.
