2008 Chevrolet Colorado Fuel Injector Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace a fuel injector while avoiding damage to the electrical connector pins and nozzles on 2008 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: Take precautions to shield the electrical pins and nozzles from damage during Fuel Injector replacement while keeping the Fuel Injector free from any cleaners because it functions as an electrical component. Roadside wear of fuel injectors can lead to dangerous engine oil contamination. Start the procedure by extracting the Fuel Rail assembly. First detach the Fuel Injector harness electrical connector from the Fuel Injector and afterward eliminate the Fuel Injector retainer clip and Fuel Injector from the Fuel Rail. Two and three o-ring seals in the fuel injectors should be thrown away. Check that the selected Fuel Injector matches the vehicle application because each new unit shows its part number identification and 4-digit build date code that specifies manufacturing month, day and year and shift. Apply minimal gm p/n 9981704 mineral oil lubrication to both new Fuel Injector O-Ring seals (2 and 3) before installing them onto the Fuel Injector. Insert the new retainer clip onto the Fuel Injector but position it with its electrical connector point facing away from the rail socket before pushing it into place until the retainer clip secures the flange of the injector socket. Seal the Fuel Rail installation by joining the Fuel Injector harness electrical connector.
