How to replace the rear disc brake pads (JL9-J55) on 2008 Chevrolet Corvette?

Make sure to look at the level of fluid in the brake master cylinder reservoir first before attempting to replace the rear disc brake pads (JL9-J55). If you see the fluid level between the maximum and minimum marks, you don't have to drain any fluid. Get the vehicle up in the air and use jack stands to support it, then take off the tire and wheel assembly. Grab a wheel lug and screw it by hand to keep the rotor held firmly to the hub; put a c-clamp over the caliper so the ends grip the caliper body, and use an old pad or a wood block to hold the piston back. Turn the c-clamp until the caliper piston is all the way in, and then take off the c-clamp as well as the old pad or block. Loosen the brake caliper guide pin bolts, and make sure to hold the caliper in place with heavy mechanic wire to keep the brake hose from being damaged. Take off the caliper from the bracket and carefully pull the brake pads out of the caliper bracket. At the same time, look at the Brake Pad retainers. Look at the caliper slide boots for any wear or holes and change them out if they are bad. Put the Brake Pad retainers back and fit the new brake pads, double-checking the wear sensor is in place. Fit the brake caliper onto the bracket, put in the guide pin bolts, and tighten them carefully to 31 n.m or 23 lb ft. Put the tire and wheel back on, then lower the vehicle, with the engine off, gently push the brake pedal down to two-thirds of its travel and let go. Repeat this over and over until you have a good pedal response, then fill the master cylinder reservoir to the right level and burnish all pads and rotors.
