  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2008 Chevrolet Corvette?
    A: To replace the Oil Pan, you must remove the front suspension crossmember, remove the Oil Filter and left rear transmission cover and Starter motor assembly. Next, unbolt the right transmission cover and plug-in the engine oil level sensor from the electrical plug. Remove the transmission lines from the pan, both back and front, if equipped. Remove 2 bolts from the oil cooler against the Oil Pan, ensuring the separation of the oil cooler and the Oil Pan, the oil cooler seal will be discarded. Remove the rear Oil Pan bolts, the bolts of the bell housing to the Oil Pan as well as the remaining Oil Pan bolts before you remove the Oil Pan from the engine block, rotating the Oil Pan if necessary for clearance. Take off the Oil Pan Gasket from the engine block. For installation, apply, a 5mm; (0.2 in) bead of and evenly combine the creating product, in length 20mm; (0.8 in) long to the engine block (on tabs of the front and rear cover gaskets that being extended into the Oil Pan surface). Put the Oil Pan Gasket on the oil, then using 2 bolts to keep the gasket in position while you attach the oil assembly to the engine block, practicing finger tightening of the bolts. Install mounting bolts for the Oil Pan assembly tightening Oil Pan mounting bolts m6 up to 12 n.m (106 lb in) and m8 to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Install the oil cooler and 2 bolts on the Oil Pan with a new oil cooler seal, tightening the oil cooler bolts to 12 n.m (106 lb in). Reconnect the engine oil level sensor electrical connector, then install the right transmission cover and bolt, tightening 12 n.m (106 lb-in). If they are packed, install the front and rear automatic transmission cooler line retainers and bolts and tighten them to 12 n.m (106 lb in). Mount the Starter assembly, left rear transmission cover and bolt and oil filters and finally front suspension crossmember.
