- Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2008 Chevrolet Corvette?A: Turn off the negative Battery Cable in order to replace the Starter motor. Then pull off the right Catalytic Converter. Next remove the positive Battery Cable nut, battery cable terminal and the engine harness leads from the solenoid. Take off the s terminal nut, followed by the purple wire lead and the washer from the solenoid. Support the Starter motor and take its bolts off before taking the Starter motor out. To install, place the Starter motor to the block and mount the Starter motor bolts and tighten them down to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Install the purple lead wire such that it is placed at the 10 o'clock position. Mount the s terminal washer and purple lead wire, along with the s terminal nut which is to be tightened to 4 n.m (35 lb in). Orient the gray and rust harness lead to the 6 o'clock and the 7 o'clock positions, then connect them to the solenoid. Reinstall the positive Battery Cable terminal to the solenoid and apply the positive Battery Cable nut to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Finally, put back the right Catalytic Converter and reconnect the negative battery wire.
