Extract the 3 mounting nuts which couple the exhaust crossover pipe to the right Exhaust Manifold. To begin raise the vehicle and use supports then unscrew and remove the 3 Catalytic Converter retaining nuts from the Exhaust Manifold assembly before moving the Catalytic Converter aside. The first step involves removing the 3 bolts retaining the heat shield followed by extracting the shields (1, 2). Begin the procedure by taking out the 3 Exhaust Manifold nuts before removing the Exhaust Manifold while also removing its gasket. When replacing the right Exhaust Manifold on the engine side the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) needs removal. Start by cleaning the sealing surfaces between the Exhaust Manifold and Cylinder Head. In some cases exhausting the Exhaust Manifold studs while performing these functions. Before reinstallation of the Exhaust Manifold studs keep them at 18 n.m (13 lb ft) torque setting.
