2007 Chevrolet Equinox Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the right side exhaust manifold on 2007 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: The first step for right side Exhaust Manifold replacement requires disconnecting the Oxygen Sensor electrical connector. First unfasten the 3 exhaust crossover pipe nuts connected to the right Exhaust Manifold, elevate and stabilize the vehicle. Secure the Catalytic Converter out of your work area by removing its 3 mounting nuts that fasten it to the Exhaust Manifold. First remove the 3 Exhaust Manifold heat shield bolts before proceeding to remove the heat shields (1, 2). You need to remove the 3 Exhaust Manifold nuts before pulling out the Exhaust Manifold and its attached Exhaust Manifold Gasket. Removing the right side engine Exhaust Manifold requires the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) as well as Exhaust Manifold studs based on necessity. Thoroughly clean both the Exhaust Manifold as well as the sealing surfaces of the cylinder head Exhaust Manifold. Reinstall previously taken out Exhaust Manifold studs before torquing them to 18 n.m (13 lb ft). After placing the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) install the Exhaust Manifold Gasket first followed by the Exhaust Manifold itself. Proceed with securing your Exhaust Manifold by tightening its 3 nuts to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Add the upper and lower heat shields after which install three heat shield bolts while tightening them to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Secure the Exhaust Manifold to the Catalytic Converter with its 3 mounting nuts until they reach a torque of 16 n.m (12 lb ft). The procedure ends with connecting the ho2s electrical connector while the vehicle is in a lowered position and attaching exhaust crossover pipe nuts to the right side Exhaust Manifold.
