    Q:
How to replace the left exhaust manifold on Chevrolet Equinox? Posted by Customer
    A:
The left Exhaust Manifold replacement process starts by taking off the 3 nuts which hold the exhaust crossover pipe to the left Exhaust Manifold followed by removal of the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pipe. You should first unscrew the two bolts that fasten the Exhaust Manifold heat shield before taking off the heat shield. Unfasten the 3 nuts securing the Exhaust Manifold before extracting both the manifold with its gasket in place. Clean the exposed surfaces of the exhaust Cylinder Head as well as the Exhaust Manifold by removing its studs when necessary. Reinstall the Exhaust Manifold studs and torque them to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.) if removal of these studs was part of your previous work. The Exhaust Manifold gasket should be placed before mounting the manifold and securing it with tight 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.) torque. Install and fasten the Exhaust Manifold heat shield by tightening its 2 bolts to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). The egr pipe must be replaced after installing all 3 nuts which fasten the exhaust crossover pipe to the left Exhaust Manifold.
