Begin the replacement of valve rocker arms and push rods by taking out the valve Rocker Arm covers. First remove the Rocker Arm bolts afterward disconnect the valve Rocker Arm together with the push rods. All push rod ends require prelube gm p/n 1052367 (Canadian P/N 992869) or an equivalent product before installation. The intake valve push rods measure 146.0 mm (5.75 in) in length but exhaust valve push rods extend to 152.5 mm (6.0 in). The original locations for push rods need installation before applying prelube to both Rocker Arm friction surfaces. The use of reconditioned components on the Cylinder Head or its elements means valve Rocker Arm pedestal shims may be required for installation. Set the valve rocker arms properly then secure the valve Rocker Arm bolts at 42 n.m (31 lb ft). The final task includes placing back the valve Rocker Arm cover(s).
