2008 Chevrolet HHR Fuel Injector Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace a Fuel Injector on 2008 Chevrolet HHR?
A: The first step for direct Fuel Injector replacement requires disconnecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the Fuel Injector wiring harness electrical connector followed by removing the Intake Manifold assembly. First disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the high pressure Fuel Pump and remove the engine wiring harness clip from the high pressure Fuel Pump cover. High side fuel system pressure must be relieved before each step. Afterward detach the Fuel Injector wiring harness electrical connectors from the direct injectors and disconnect the feed intermediate fuel pipe. Begin by carefully removing Fuel Rail bolts then proceed to remove the Fuel Rail since the fuel injectors might escape with the Fuel Rail. Also remove the direct fuel injectors while freeing the direct Fuel Injector hold down clamps. Use the (J 2619-01) and (J-37281-A) as needed to detach the injectors when required. Remove the top o-ring seal in combination with plastic spacer from the injectors and use care when extracting the bottom nylon seal from the components. Install the new plastic spacer correctly on the Fuel Injector(s) before giving the new o-ring seal a silicon-free engine oil gm p/n 12345610 (Canadian P/N 993193) or equivalent lubrication for injector(s) installation. We must not lubricate the new seal before inserting the (EN-48266-1) to the injector tip. After positioning the (EN-48266-1), use it to install a new seal. Pull the (EN-48266-1) entirely into the injector's groove. Place the (EN-48266-2) onto the injector tip but skip lubrication before using moderate force to rotate it 180 degrees in each direction to resize the seal. Direct fuel injectors should be installed to the Cylinder Head through secure attachment with new direct Fuel Injector hold down clamps. First put the Fuel Rail into position before tighting the external Fuel Rail bolts just enough then complete bolt installation. The Fuel Injector wiring harness electrical connectors should be joined to the fuel injectors followed by tightening all Fuel Rail bolts to 22 n.m (16 lb ft) sequence. First reinstall the fuel feed intermediate pipe before connecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the high pressure Fuel Pump then firmly attach the engine wiring harness clip to the high pressure Fuel Pump cover. Install the Fuel Injector insulator then reconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the Fuel Injector harness connector before performing a leak check with a 2-second ignition on engine off cycle followed by a 10-second engine off state then another ignition on period while inspecting for fuel leaks. To complete the installation you should set the low side fuel pressure service port cap while tightening the fueling system cap and putting back the Intake Manifold assembly.
