    Q:
How to replace the direct fuel injector on Chevrolet HHR? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the direct Fuel Injector includes disconnecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector which connects to the Fuel Injector wiring harness. The first step involves removing the Intake Manifold assembly together with the Fuel Injector insulator. Get rid of high system pressure then remove the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the high pressure Fuel Pump electrical connection and detach the engine wiring harness clip from the high pressure Fuel Pump cover. The procedure requires two steps that involve removing the fuel feed intermediate pipe followed by disconnecting the Fuel Injector wiring harness electrical connectors from the fuel injectors. First remove each Fuel Rail bolt while keeping in mind the fuel injectors might detach from the Fuel Rail before slow extraction of the entire Fuel Rail. The direct Fuel Injector hold down clamps need discarding while taking the direct fuel injectors out. The tool set (J 2619-01) combined with (J-37281-A) can help extract the injectors if required. Begin the procedure by removing the upper o-ring seal together with plastic spacer from the injectors. Next extract the lower nylon seal with caution. Install the new plastic spacer onto the fuel injectors before applying a new o-ring with gm p/n 12345610 engine oil equivalent and putting the o-ring seal on the injectors. To set the (EN-48266) on (EN 48266-1), apply it to the injector tip and then install the new (EN 48266-1) seal before pulling the seal into the injector groove. To secure the (EN 48266-2) to the injector tip you should resize the seal through moderate force while rotating the setup 180 degrees in each orientation. You should install the direct fuel injectors to the Cylinder Head before implementing the new direct Fuel Injector hold down clamps. Fully install the outer Fuel Rail bolts before proceeding to secure all remaining bolts while keeping them hand tight. Wire the Fuel Injector wiring harness electrical connectors directly to the fuel injectors before tightening all Fuel Rail bolts to 22 nm (16 lb ft) in the prescribed installation procedure order. The procedure involves reconnecting both the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the high pressure Fuel Pump and installing the engine wiring harness clip before reinstalling the fuel feed intermediate pipe. Install the Fuel Injector insulator and to its place before connecting the engine wiring harness connector to the Fuel Injector wiring harness. Leak inspection requires turning the ignition to check for fuel leaks, especially using the engine off-road test followed by engine off and engine on procedures. You must complete the installation process by putting on the low side fuel pressure service port cap while securing the fuel fill cap and reattaching the Intake Manifold assembly.
