2008 Chevrolet Impala Air Inject Check Valve Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the secondary air inject check valve on 2008 Chevrolet Impala?
A: The first step for replacing the secondary air injection shutoff and check valve requires exhaust crossover pipe removal. First disconnect the secondary air injection (AIR) feeder quick connect fitting from the air valve mechanism then loosen the air feeder bolt at the heater inlet/outlet pipe bracket. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the air shutoff/check valve and raise and suitably support the vehicle. Separate the air shutoff/check valve nuts followed by lowering the vehicle so you can take out the air shutoff/check valve bolts together with the air check valve and gasket which you should discard. Place a new gasket on the air pipe studs before you install the air check valve and apply the air shutoff/check valve bolts which need to be fastened at 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Use correct vehicle support and install the air shutoff/check valve nuts with torque set at 10 n.m (89 lb in), complete the procedure by lowering the vehicle. The installation starts with connecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the air shutoff/check valve while also using the air feed tube quick connect fitting for the shutoff/check valve. The repair ends by attaching the air feed tube bolt to the heater inlet/outlet pipe bracket while tightening it to 10 n.m (89 lb in) then replacing the exhaust crossover pipe.
