How to replace the negative battery cable on 2008 Chevrolet Malibu?

First unfasten the negative Battery Cable and remove the ground nut from the engine block stud before taking off the ground lead from the same stud. The procedure starts with nut removal from the tie bar stud and lead removal from the same stud. First disconnect the body wiring harness electrical connector from the battery current sensor while cutting tape that secures the negative Battery Cable to the positive cable. Make a note of the negative cable assembly route before disassembly. Take the negative Battery Cable assembly off the vehicle and place it on a sterile work area for safe storage. Record the measurement between the negative Battery Cable end and the current sensor spot for installation purposes. Pull out the battery current sensor from its position on the negative Battery Cable. Position the battery current sensor on the new negative Battery Cable and push it toward the marked installation position. Attach the new negative Battery Cable near the positive Battery Cable while using fresh tape for attachment. Connect the body wiring harness electrical connector to the battery current sensor before securing the ground lead at the tie bar stud. Tighten the ground nut to a torque of 10 n.m (89 lb in). Screw the ground lead onto the engine block stud while tightening the ground nut to 10 n.m (89 lb in). The negative Battery Cable needs to be connected as the final step.
