• Q: How to replace the Parking Brake Cable on the right rear side on 2008 GMC Acadia?

  A: It becomes necessary to service right side parking brake rear cable when you begin with park brake release and vehicle height elevation and support. The right part brake cable needs to be detached from the front part brake cable after the park brake equalizer locknut has been loosened. The adoption of the park brake cable from the equalizer requires depressing the locking tabs found on the conduit. Remove two bolts fixing park brake cable brackets which are found above the rear suspension module crossmember then disconnect the park brake cable eyelet from the park brake actuator. Pull the park brake cable conduit toward the front of the vehicle after compressing the locking tabs so that the park brake cable spring compresses. Then remove the park brake cable from the cable bracket and pull it through the cable guides for removal. Install the park brake cable across the rear suspension module by positioning its eyelet into the park brake actuator. The park brake cable spring must be compressed as you position this cable onto its bracket which needs to have locking tabs fully locked into place. Screw and tighten the two park brake cable bracket bolts until they reach 10 n.m (89 lb in). The front park brake cable requires installation along the cable guides for positioning toward the equalizer before securing it to the right park brake cable. The installation of the park brake cable at the park brake equalizer must include full engagement of cable conduit locking tabs. Adjust the park brake before placing on the park brake equalizer locknut.
