2007 GMC Acadia Parking Brake Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Parking Brake Cable Front on 2007 GMC Acadia?
A: The first step to change the Parking Brake Front Cable requires vehicle lift with support and relaxation of tension through the park brake cable locknut at the equalizer for installation. The front park brake cable must be disconnected from the rear park brake cable followed by removal from the park brake cable bracket on the body through pressing the locking tabs of the cable conduit. Move on to remove the left side instrument panel insulator panel together with the driver side front carpet retainer and its two securing nuts to access the front park brake cable routing clip which must be released from the floor stud. Begin the front park brake cable removal by detaching the cable from park brake pedal clevis through its pass through grommet before taking away the assembly from park brake pedal by compressing the locking tabs on the cable conduit . Use the new assembly by attaching it to the park brake pedal clevis and validate full engagement of the cable conduit locking tabs to the park brake pedal assembly. After routing the cable through the vehicle floor you need to seat the pass through grommet before installing the driver footrest while tightening the 2 nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in). The warning indicator electric connector should be installed before adding the driver front side carpet retainer and left instrument panel panel insulator. Completely engage the locking tabs of the cable conduit before connecting the front park brake cable to its body bracket. Afterward, link the front park brake cable to the rear park brake cable. Adjust the park brake system.
