  • Q: How to replace the intake manifold on 2008 GMC Canyon?
    A: To replace the Intake Manifold, start by removing the Throttle Body, battery box, and oil level indicator and tube. Remove the brake booster hose, engine wiring harness part of the electrical connector from manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor, and engine wiring harness retainer from Intake Manifold. Also, remove the dirty air tube from the camshaft cover by disconnecting the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) and also remove the generator. Next, remove the engine wiring harness retainer from the Intake Manifold and disconnect the upper 2 bolts supporting the engine wiring harness bracket to the Intake Manifold. Raising and supporting the vehicle to reach the remaining components via the wheel house and then remove the left front wheel and left front wheelhouse liner. Remove the wiring harness retainers for the battery cable, engine (4, 6), and MAP Sensor, as well as the remaining engine wiring harness bracket lower bolt and remove the bracket through the wheelhouse opening. Unbolt manifold then lower the car and remove the manifold from the cylinder head discarding the old seal and blocking off the open ports with masking in order to prevent the entrance of foreign objects into the engine. For installation, ensure that the sealing surface is free from dust and moisture, then ring new seal into the groove of the Intake Manifold and place Intake Manifold to the cylinder head. Lift and elevate the vehicle once again to reach the Intake Manifold bolts, engine wiring harness bracket bolts, and wiring harnesses. Mount the bolt of Intake Manifold and tighten from inner part to outer part to 10 n.m (89 lb in) also fix the engine wiring harness bracket in place in respect to the engine with bolts tight 10n.m (89 lb in). Reconnect the engine wire harness retainers for the battery cable, engine (4, 6), and MAP Sensor, and also reinstall the left front wheelhouse liner and left front wheel prior to lowering the vehicle. Install the Throttle Body, connect the brake booster hose to the brake booster, use the pcv dirty air tube to attach to the camshaft cover, connect the engine wiring harness retainer to the Intake Manifold , connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the MAP Sensor, install the oil level indicator and tube, install generator and finally plug in the engine wiring harness retainer to the Intake Manifold.
