2008 GMC Envoy Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2008 GMC Envoy?
A: The first step for replacing the Fuel Rail assembly includes using ch 48027 or without it as applicable to drain the fuel system pressure. Remove the fuel feed pipe from the Fuel Rail after disconnecting it then take out the Intake Manifold. Spray the Fuel Rail assembly and cylinder head with gm x-30a cleaner or equivalent without submerging the Fuel Rail into liquid cleaning solvent following package guidelines. Users should separate the Fuel Injector harness in-line connector from its connection to engine wires on the rocker cover while removing it. The operator should remove the Fuel Rail attaching bolts with caution to protect injector electrical connection terminals and spray tips before supporting the Fuel Rail to avoid damage. Install caps on the fittings as well as plug all holes to prevent contamination. Pull away the Fuel Rail assembly while also removing all Fuel Injector lower o-ring seals from the injectors and then discard the seals. The installation process should continue in case the Fuel Rail does not require replacement. When disassembling the system start by taking off the Fuel Injector wire harness from the Fuel Rail then dislodging the fuel injectors from the Fuel Rail. During assembly the technician should attach Fuel Injector harness to Fuel Rail and secure a Fuel Injector to each end of the rail. During Fuel Rail installation users should grease new lower injector o-ring seals using clean engine oil before inserting them at the injector tip where the installation process begins. Threadlock gm p/n 12345382 or equivalent canadian p/n 10953489 (or equivalent) should be applied with a 5 mm (0.2 in) length around the Fuel Rail bolt threads before installing the bolts at 10 n.m (89 lb in). Begin by connecting the in-line connector from the Fuel Injector harness to both the engine wire harness inside the rocker cover and reattaching the fuel feed pipe to the Fuel Rail while installing the electrical connectors of all fuel injectors. The process of reinstalling begins with reattaching the Intake Manifold followed by Battery Cable reconnection and leak inspection through an ignition sequence of 2-second on then 10-second off followed by a final 2-second on with engine still off before checking for fuel leaks.
