2008 GMC Yukon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel injectors on 2008 GMC Yukon?
A: Begin the Fuel Injector replacement by disconnecting the air cleaner outlet duct before relieving the fuel system pressure through ch 48027 if needed. You must take down the engine wiring harness bracket nut before disconnecting all electrical connectors from the evap purge solenoid , generator , map sensor , ignition coil main electrical connector , and the fuel injectors . Mark all connectors before lifting the cpa retainer by one click while pushing on the tab to disconnect electrical connectors from the fuel injectors. The cpa retainer will then be removed then all electrical connectors should be disconnected from the electronic throttle control along with the remaining fuel injectors through a standardized process of connector marking and disassembly. Engine wiring harness clips (4 and 6), negative battery cable stud and terminal and engine wiring harness ground terminal should be removed together with the negative battery cable. You should remove the engine wiring harness clip bolt then move the wiring harness out of the way. The technicians must disconnect three main components which include the pcv hose alongside the fuel feed pipe quick connect from the Fuel Rail and also disconnecting the evap tube quick connect from the Intake Manifold and the chassis evap tube quick connect from the evap canister purge solenoid. Lift the Fuel Rail assembly carefully while providing support to stop damages after disengaging the retainer that connects the evap canister purge solenoid to the Fuel Rail and removing the Fuel Rail bolts. Both fuel injectors require removal using injector retainer tool and keep discard upper and lower o-ring seals (2 and 4). Installation requires lubrication of new o-ring seals by using clean engine oil followed by their installation on the injectors. Next, position the injectors into the fuel rails which must then be retained through the addition of retainers. By pushing down on the Fuel Rail while installing it vertically onto the Intake Manifold users can achieve full seating then proceed to tighten the Fuel Rail bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reinstall all connections in their proper positions which include the evap tube connecting to the purge solenoid as well as the evap tube quick connect to the evap canister purge solenoid and to the Intake Manifold and the chassis fuel feed pipe quick connect to the Fuel Rail. Reinstall the pcv hose followed by gathering engine wiring harness branches which should be positioned over the engine. Apply a bolt to fasten the wiring harness clip onto the generator bracket while tightening it to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Reinstall the negative battery cable terminal to the right Cylinder Head along with the ground terminal before tightening the negative battery cable stud to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Next attach the main electrical connector of the ignition coil before installing the cpa retainer. Connect and securely join the electronic throttle control along with the Fuel Injector electrical connectors while verifying that the cpa retainers remain properly locked into place. The last step includes attachment of electrical connectors to MAP Sensor and generator and evap purge solenoid and securing engine wiring harness bracket nut with torque to 5 n.m (44 lb in). Reconnect the negative battery cable before checking for leaks during on and off ignition operations and reinstall the air cleaner outlet duct.
