    Q:
How to clean fuel injectors effectively on Cadillac Escalade? Posted by Customer
    A:
The cleaning process requires these tools: Fuel Line Shut-Off Adapters (J 37287) alongside Fuel Injector Cleaner (J 35800-A) and the 3/8 Fuel Line Shut-Off Valve (J 42873-1) and 5/16 Return Pipe Shut-Off Valve (J 42873-2). Furthermore, the set includes 3/8 Fuel Pipe Shut-Off Valve (J 42964-1) and 5/16 Fuel Pipe Shut-Off Valve (J 42964-2). When using GM Top-Engine Cleaner exclusively you must avoid placing it in the fuel tank but the maximum solution concentration should stay at 10 percent. Candidates should replace vehicle injectors when the odometer reaches below 160 km (100 mi). The required cleaning solution amount is 960 ml (32.4 oz) and it equals two tanks of the Fuel Injector Cleaner (J 35800-A). First close the valve at the canister bottom followed by adding two pre-measured GM Top-Engine Cleaner containers to the Fuel Injector Cleaner unit for US dealers or adding 48 ml (1.62 oz) of Canadian Top-Engine Cleaner measure for Canadian dealers. Users who choose a different brand need to combine 3.24 oz of Top-Engine Cleaner with 29.16 oz of regular unleaded gasoline. First, add gasoline into the cleaning tank then disable the fuel pump followed by disconnecting fuel lines while using proper shut-off valves to plug them. The Fuel Injector Cleaner (J 35800-A) requires attachment to the fuel rail before increasing pressure to 510 kPa (75 psi) and engine operation until stall occurs. Reconnect the fuel pump relay then lines before letting the vehicle run for two minutes while cleaning residual solution. The test requires measuring injector pressure drops during a balance test until the lowest pressure falls outside 15 kPa (2 psi) from other injectors which signals the need to replace that particular unit. The customer should utilize GM Port Fuel Injector Cleaner GM P/N 12345104 or Canadian P/N 10953467 in amounts of one ounce per fuel tank gallon and know to use this product repeatedly to minimize future occurrences. The vehicle needs to be driven in order to verify that the customer's problem has been corrected.

    Q:
How to replace the fuel injector on Cadillac Escalade EXT? Posted by Customer
    A:
You should start Fuel Injector replacement by first detaching the air cleaner outlet duct along with relaxing fuel system pressure. Rephrase the engine wiring harness connectors from evap purge solenoid to generator to MAP Sensor to Ignition Coil to fuel injectors while marking all connectors for reassembly order. The right Cylinder Head requires the removal of engine wiring harness clips and negative Battery Cable while both the chassis fuel feed pipe and the evap tube need to be disconnected. The procedure begins by separating the evap canister purge solenoid retainer before removing Fuel Rail bolts to avoid damaging injector electrical connectors along with spray tips during the Fuel Rail lift process. You should clean the Fuel Rail using a spray type engine cleaner before lubricating new Fuel Injector O-Ring seals with clean engine oil so you can install them onto the injectors while putting them in the Fuel Rail. Install the Fuel Rail onto the Intake Manifold then push down firmly until it seating is complete. Screw Fuel Rail bolts with a torque setting of 10 n.m (89 lb in) before reuniting the evap tube with chassis fuel feed pipe. Put back in position the pcv hose then gather and fasten the engine wiring harness. After securing the proper seating and attachment of battery negative cable and engine harness connectors you should proceed with connecting them. Turn the ignition on after tightening the engine wiring harness bracket nut to 5 n.m (44 lb in) to inspect any leaking points after the ignition cycles. Put back the air cleaner outlet duct as the last step.
