    A: The replacement process for the left side parking brake rear cable begins with releasing the park brake then setting the automatic adjuster of the park brake cable to the disabled position. Support the vehicle then remove the left rear park brake cable by disconnecting it from the equalizer on the intermediate park brake cable. After depressing the locking tabs of the park brake cable mounting bracket you can remove both the bolt and nut to disconnect the cable assembly from the rear axle housing bracket (2500 series). The process of removing the park brake cable starts with releasing it from the guiding points on the vehicle frame then freeing it from the actuator lever and finally backing plate using the locking tab mechanism before total removal. The correct cable route needs to be established through guides and body mounts before pressing the backing plate until the tabs lock up and attaching it to the actuator lever. Fasten the park brake cable to the rear axle bracket about the bolt which requires a 22 N.m (16 lb ft) tightening torque (2500 series). The cable must find its place in the frame guides before its installation into the mounting bracket while the tab locking mechanism activates. Starting with the left rear park brake cable installation to the intermediate park brake cable equalizer the vehicle requires lowering then enabling the automatic adjuster followed by complete park brake adjustment.
