2008 GMC Yukon Pushrod Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the pushrod and valve rocker arm on 2008 GMC Yukon?
A: The first step to change the valve Rocker Arm and push rod includes removing the Rocker Arm cover. The cylinder sequence begins with number one followed by eight then seven until reaching two then six resulting in five then four before ending with number three while cylinders one three five and seven exist on the left bank. Place the number one cylinder Spark Plug aside before setting all rocker arms pushrods and pivot supports in a rack for future reinstallation. The valve Rocker Arm bolts should be detached before the removal of rocker arms and Rocker Arm pivot support and pushrods. The inspection of loader arms and pushrods should be followed by cleaning when required for use. Cleans engine oil should be used for lubricating both rocker arms and pushrods and the flange section of Rocker Arm bolts during installation of these components. The Rocker Arm pivot support must be installed after the pushrods properly seat inside the valve lifter sockets but before the pushrods can be positioned inside the rocker arms without tightening the bolts. Place the rocker arms and bolts onto their respective positions, while rotating the Crankshaft so the number one Piston reaches top dead center of compression stroke with all number one cylinder rocker arms beyond their lifting motion. Introduce the engine to this position for tightening the Rocker Arm bolts which lead to exhaust valves for cylinders 1, 2, 7, and 8 to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) while intake valves on cylinders 1, 3, 4, and 5 need 30 n.m (22 lb ft). The technician should rotate the Crankshaft 360 degrees before torquing the Rocker Arm bolts to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) for cylinders 3, 4, 5, 6 exhaust valves and cylinders 2, 6, 7, 8 intake valves. Install the number one cylinder Spark Plug along with its associated Rocker Arm cover.
