GMC Yukon Pushrod Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Properly Service and Replace a Pushrod on GMC Yukon?
A: The first step to replace the valve Rocker Arm and push rod requires removal of the Rocker Arm cover. The sequenced engine combustion follows 1 then 8 through 7 and 2 after 6 till 5 afterward 4 and finally 3. Leftbank cylinders appear sequentially with 1, 3, 5, and 7. Start by removing the number one cylinder Spark Plug then set the rocker arms and pushrods with pivot support on a rack prepared for later reinstallation in specific locations. After removing the Rocker Arm bolts you should take out the rocker arms (1, 2), then the Rocker Arm pivot support and Pushrod. Checks of Rocker Arm and Pushrod condition determine whether cleaning and inspection need to take place. Clean engine oil should be used to lubricate the rocker arms and pushrods during installation together with the flange of the Rocker Arm bolts. Position the Rocker Arm pivot support together with the pushrods in a place where they should align with valve lifter sockets and the ends of rocker arms (1, 2) before leaving the Rocker Arm bolts untightened. Reinstall the rocker arms followed by their respective bolts before turning the Crankshaft clockwise to reach top dead center compression stroke of the first Piston at a stage where number one chamber rocker arms remain off lobe lift position. The engine needs to maintain its current tdc position for number one Piston during bolt tightening of 30 nm (22 lb ft) torque on exhaust valves 1, 2, 7, 8 and intake valves 1, 3, 4, 5. Presently the Crankshaft at tdc compression of the number one Piston maintain 30 nm (22 lb ft) torque on the Rocker Arm bolts for cylinders 3, 4, 5, 6 exhaust valves and 30 nm (22 lb ft) torque for cylinders 2, 6, 7, 8 intake valves. The last installation step involves placing the number one cylinder Spark Plug and then installing the Rocker Arm cover.
