2009 Cadillac DTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2009 Cadillac DTS?
A: The refrigerant recovery process starts first before commencing any air conditioning condenser replacement. Start by removing the front compartment sight shield and upper tie bar and hood latch support. First detach the suction hose and discharge hose from the condenser while replacing their sealing washers then remove the nuts to complete the process. Remove the condenser lines to radiator mounting bolt and engine oil cooler lines from the radiator when they are equipped. Use bolt removal to extract the condenser from both the radiator retainer and vehicle body. Add the necessary amount of refrigerant oil to your new condenser during installation. To install the condenser into its position within the retainer use the mounting bolts which need to be tightened to 80 lb in using the old condenser bracket. Reattach the condenser line using a 6 Nm (53 lb in) torque setting to radiator mounting bolt while reestablishing the engine oil cooler lines to radiator slots which should snap into position. Place the plastic cap over the quick connect joint before you install new sealing washers. First attach the suction hose with its tightening nut set at 16 Nm (12 lb ft) and then follow up by installing the liquid line with its 20 Nm (15 lb ft) torque. Refit the hood latch bracket and upper tie bar afterward charging the A/C system. The J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector performs a leak test on the fittings before reinstalling the front compartment sight shield.
