2009 Cadillac XLR Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel injector and fuel rail on 2009 Cadillac XLR?
A: The first step for Fuel Injector and Fuel Rail replacement requires use of ch 48027 to reduce fuel system pressure before removing the front supercharger inlet duct assembly. Use compressed air to clean the ports on the Fuel Rail before unconnecting electrical wires from sciap, baro, and map sensors as well as vacuum lines from map and sciap sensors. The technician should carefully remove the sciap, baro, and map sensors together with their bracket as they replace the supercharger Drive Belt while keeping coolant out of the belt area. Place a shop rag at the front face of the supercharger to catch remaining coolant. Users should drain part of the charge air cooling system before separating the front portion of the charge air cooler front manifold assembly and discarding its o-ring seals while maintaining the attached hoses. Disconnect the power supply from the air inlet temperature 2 sensor followed by the supercharger bypass solenoid valve electrical connector and finally detach the vacuum line from the supercharger actuator valve. The service technician should first disconnect the engine compartment fuel line fitment from the Fuel Rail and then remove Fuel Injector electrical connectors (1, 4, 6, 8) from the engine's both sides. The technician needs to remove the right rear injector rail bolt ground wire and separate both oxygen sensor electrical connector assemblies (1, 2) from their positions on the Fuel Rail brackets. Remove the clip connecting the Fuel Rail to the supercharger front and detach its studs before positioning the rear inlet duct if needed and separating the Fuel Rail from the supercharger assembly. Displace and dispose of the injector lower o-ring seals from each Fuel Injector before taking out the retainers and moving the fuel injectors from the Fuel Rail. The proper installation process for fuel injectors includes lubricating new o-ring seals using engine oil then setting them on each injector before inserting fuel injectors onto the rail through retainer clips while orienting electrical connectors directly toward the crankshaft centerline. First apply engine oil to new o-ring seals before installing them onto each injector tip end followed by placing the Fuel Rail assembly downward with care until it becomes completely seated. Apply 10 nm (89 lb in) torque to the Fuel Rail attaching studs before you install the Fuel Rail on the clip at the supercharger front. Both oxygen sensor electrical connector assemblies (1, 2) receive installation on Fuel Rail brackets while the ground wire works with the right rear injector rail bolt and Fuel Injector electrical connectors (1, 4, 6, 8) arrive at both engine sides. Fit the supercharger bypass solenoid electrical connector and connect the Fuel Rail to the engine compartment fuel line fitting. Also install the vacuum line to the supercharger actuator valve. Insert the electrical connector to the air inlet temperature 2 sensor before installing the front section of the charge air cooler front manifold assembly using new o-ring seals. Reconnect the sciap, baro, and map sensors to their bracket then apply vacuum lines to map and sciap sensors followed by their electrical connector reinstalls. To complete the installation process reinstall the supercharger inlet duct assembly front section while performing coolant filling of the charge air cooling system and inspecting for fuel system leaks before adding the engine sight shield.
