• Q: How to replace the Clutch Disc, pressure plate, and pilot bearing on 2009 Chevrolet Aveo?

  A: In order to change the Clutch Disc, pressure plate and Pilot Bearing, disconnect and remove the negative Battery Cable and take out the transaxle from the car. Remove the Pressure Plate bolts and the Pressure Plate and supporting it while removing the last bolt and take out the Clutch Disc from the Flywheel. Inspect worn or oily contamination on the Clutch Disc, damaged torsion springs, and warping; replace it if necessary. Measure the depth of the rivet head from the surface of the Clutch Disc and displace the disc if its depth is under 0.5 mm (0.020 in) while having a standard of 1.2 mm (0.047 in). Use a dial gauge to check the Clutch Disc runout, replacing it if the runout amount is more than 0.7 mm (0.028 in). For the Pressure Plate, examine for damage on diaphragm spring fingers, cracks and appear for oil contamination and repair or replacement if necessary is needed. Install: coat the spline in the Clutch Disc with multi-purpose grease, align the Pressure Plate and Clutch Disc on the Flywheel using dt 46551 (DW210-010); install the Pressure Plate bolts and tighten them 15 nm (11 lb ft) if hydraulic or 18 nm (13 lb ft) if cable types. The rotor is cleared following the removal of dt 46551 from the clutch assembly, then install transaxle and connect the negative cable to the battery.
