2010 Chevrolet Aveo Clutch Disc Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Clutch Disc, pressure plate, and pilot bearing on 2010 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: Before performing Clutch Disc and Pressure Plate and Pilot Bearing replacement start by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable then removing the transaxle from the vehicle. Disassemble the Pressure Plate bolts before the Pressure Plate extraction. Also support the Pressure Plate with your hands before removing the last bolt. Finally remove the Clutch Disc from the Flywheel. Check the Clutch Disc visually for signs of wear and oil contamination and damaged torsion springs and warping. Inspection results should determine whether you need a new Clutch Disc. Check the rivet head depth on the Clutch Disc surface against 0.5 mm (0.020 in) before replacement when the standard depth measures 1.2 mm (0.047 in). Evaluate Clutch Disc runout with a dial gauge before replacement when it shows measurements beyond 0.7 mm (0.028 in). A worn diaphragm spring fingers along with cracks or oil contamination in the Pressure Plate requires replacement. After coating the Clutch Disc spline with multi-purpose grease, align the Pressure Plate and Clutch Disc to the Flywheel using dt 46551 (DW210-010) then install Pressure Plate bolts. Torque these bolts to 15 nm (11 lb ft) specifications for hydraulic clutches or 18 nm (13 lb ft) for cable clutches. Reinstall the transaxle and reconnect the negative Battery Cable after removing dt 46551 from the clutch assembly.
