• Q: How to replace the shift cable on 2010 Chevrolet Aveo?

  A: Before starting the procedure one must detach the Air Hose between the air cleaner and Throttle Body and separate the battery connection from the vehicle system. The transaxle side select and shift control cable pins along with washers should be removed before disconnecting the select and shift control cable and taking out the cable e-rings. Break the connection between cables and the cable bracket before taking out the floor console unit. Floor carpet access requires clearing the way to remove the gear Shift Cable then proceed with u-clip detachment of the shift control lever along with the eye ring and e-ring from the select control cable. Undertake removal of the shift control cable pin and cable e-ring before extracting the shift control cable and select and shift control cable nuts to free the cables in the passenger compartment. The cable installation requires passing the wires from dash panel to engine compartment and placing them at the select and shift lever positions. Connect all transaxle side select and shift control cables along with the side shift control cable on the gear shift lever. Use the gear shift select control cable eye ring to attach itself to the select arm pin and properly install the gear shift selector lever control cable clip. Use an e-ring to attach the gear shift select control cable at the gear shift lever bracket as you prevent gear shift lever movement in neutral with a screwdriver inserted into the select arm adjustment hole. Proceed to install the floor console after connecting the gear shift lever side select control cable. The gear cable adjust nut requires tightening to 10 nm (89 lb in) while the battery needs reconnection prior to installing the Air Hose between the Throttle Body and air cleaner.
